About Programme

Electronics and Computer Science (ECS) is a four years Undergraduate B.Tech course. It is a multidisciplinary, integrated programme that focus on electronics hardware circuits and also on programming and IT aspects. The majority of recent technical advances are rooted in electronics and computer engineering. Electronics and computer engineering play a key part in everything from embedded systems used in smart cars to the utilisation of computer-based systems with artificial intelligence. Combining the areas Electronics and Computer Science gives a solid foundation in both domains and qualifies for a variety of careers, in both or either fields.

Faculty

The department has highly qualified and experienced faculty having keen interest in research and consultancy. The department has 3 Professors, 4 Associate Professors and 20 Assistant Professors. The faculty members have published their research work in national and international journals/conferences of repute and are reviewers for several journals and conferences. Faculty has filed and published patents. Some of the recognition and awards of faculty members include best teacher awards, best paper award and Gold, Silver and Elite awards in NPTEL courses.

Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs)

  • PEO1:Exercise the acquired knowledge and skills in electronics and computer science to solve engineering problems.
  • PEO2:Engage in professional development by pursuing higher education and research.
  • PEO3:Demonstrate leadership qualities, effective communication skills, and to work in a team in a diverse environment with strong adherence to professional ethics.
  • PEO4:Engage in lifelong learning for sustained career advancement and adapt to changing professional and societal needs.

Programme Specific Outcomes (PSOs)

  • PSO1:An ability to apply concepts of electronics and computer science to analyze multidisciplinary problems.
  • PSO2:An ability to design hardware/software systems using modern tools and techniques in the areas of VLSI, Embedded Systems, Artificial Intelligence, and Software Engineering.

Programme Outcomes of Electronics and Computer Science

  • Engineering knowledge:Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
  • Problem analysis:Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
  • Design/development of solutions:Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
  • Conduct investigations of complex problems:Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
  • Modern tool usage:Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
  • The engineer and society:Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
  • Environment and sustainability:vii.Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.
  • Ethics:Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.
  • Individual and team work:Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.
  • Communication:Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.
  • Project management and finance:xi.Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the engineering and management principles and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.
  • Life-long learning:xii.Recognize the need for, and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and lifelong learning in the broadest context of technological change.
Scheme and Syllabus

Key Feature of the Curriculum

    • The new curriculum in Electronics and Computer Science Engineering focuses on an industry-oriented approach, aiming to enhance placement opportunities in both the core IT industry and VLSI industries.
    • The curriculum is designed to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in future industries such as AI/ML, IoT, and Edge Computing. It offers an Honors specialization in these areas.
    • The program includes a range of elective courses with practical labs, utilizing modern industry-standard engineering tools, to ensure students gain hands-on experience and familiarity with the latest technologies.
    • The curriculum adopts a Choice Based Credit System, allowing students to select courses according to their interests and career goals, promoting a more personalized learning experience.
    • To provide real-world exposure and practical learning, the curriculum incorporates a six-month industry internship, research internships, and TBI (Technology Business Incubator) internships. This enables students to gain valuable industry experience and apply their knowledge in practical settings.
    • In addition to the longer internships, students have opportunities for shorter summer and winter internships, further enhancing their practical exposure and providing a broader understanding of industry practices.
    • To enrich the learning experience and bridge the gap between academia and industry, a portion of the course content is delivered by industry experts. This ensures students receive firsthand insights, up-to-date knowledge, and real-world perspectives from professionals actively working in the field.
