Training Initiatives

Placement training initiatives at Ramdeobaba University are essential for preparing students to successfully navigate the competitive job market. These training programs bridge the gap between academic knowledge and industry expectations, enhance employability, and build essential skills. By investing in comprehensive placement training, RBU not only supports its students career aspirations but also strengthens its reputation and relationships with industry partners. The benefits of these initiatives are far-reaching, impacting students, the university, and employers positively. The training programs are categorized under four verticals, which are as follows:

Employability Initiatives for Students

• • CRT training – 4167 students trained
  • Students from CSE, IT and circuit branches background have been exposed to various programming platforms like Hackerrank, Codeguru, Codechef, InterviewBit for the preparation for dream companies.
  • Students are encouraged to participate in the various HACKATHONs and Company level competitions. 3 Teams out of 10 Teams of RBU that participated in Grand Finale of Smart India Hackathon 2019 have emerged WINNERS in “Complicated” Problem Statement Category
  • Online Practice Aptitude tests (50+ tests) were given to final and pre-final year students. All the tests made available were free and industry standard tests
  • Other Industry level assessment provided to all to final and pre-final year students. Already 1600+ students have appeared for the test.
  • Hundreds of students are registered for online MOOC Courses from UDACITY, UDEMY, COURSERA, SWAYAM, NPTEL, INFYTQ, EDX etc and are given credits in the academic scheme for the same.
  • College has collaboration with AWS and a batch of 30 students is currently undergoing Cloud Solution Architect Certification Training and is expected to be certified by May 2019.
  • Industry Offered Courses: – SalesForce, Mobile Computing, BI, IOT, internet and cyber security etc.

The Career Development & Placement Cell maintains round the year contact with the industries on one hand and provides all the training placements related support to the students throughout the year on the other hand. It regularly takes the feedback from the industries and analyses the performance of the students in the campus interviews and guides the students accordingly. T & P team nurture and grow old relationships and welcome new recruiters for a long-lasting and mutually beneficial relationship.

Apart from organizing the campus recruitment drives the department also organizes career guidance seminars, campus preparation sessions, and training programs of the industries for the selected students, etc. It also provides support to the students for industrial training during their summer vacations.

Students opting for Higher Studies

1) Infocepts Skills Upliftment Elective Course

● The Career Development and Placement cell of Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management had initiated a skills upliftment program with the most emerging technology in the industries in collaboration with Infocepts under the guidance of Dr. Parag Jawarkar, Training & Placement Officer.

● In this program 133 of students were trained in the field of Business Intelligence, Big Data & Data Science by the Industry professionals of the company.

● InfoCepts is a global leader of end-to-end data & analytics solutions with nearly 20 years’ experience.

● Infocepts’ Skills Upliftment Program is a 32 hours elective course for those students who wish to pursue their careers in the field of Data Science and Analytics. Students of Electronics, Electronics and Communication & Electronics and Design Technology were eligible.

● The course started with an online Introduction session on 20^th June 2022 where students were introduced with the technical team and were briefed about the course.

● The course began on 21^st June 2022 and covered the following Modules:

○ Big Data & Cloud
○ Analytics & BI
○ Data Science

● Infocepts also hosted their last 2 sessions in their campus, where the students were shown the campus and worked on a live project. The course was concluded on 12^th July.

● The course completion offline test was scheduled on 2^nd August in the college premises. 133 Students appeared for the test.

2) Digital Nurture by Cognizant

● “Digital Nurture 2.0“ is a transformative training and recruitment approach for students while they are in their 6th semester, which will enable them to grab a GenC Next role with Cognizant and work in niche technologies.

● The program gives students an opportunity to grab premium roles with Cognizant to accelerate their career path.

● It is an 18 monthstudent bootcamp which offers certifications in courses like AWS Cloud Computing, Salesforce and Cybersecurity which are the leading requirements of today’s market. These certifications were provided to make students eligible to appear for higher band salaries. This engagement and exposure to third year students ensured a channelized path for their placement preparation.

3) Persistent Systems ‘Martian’ Program

● Martian is a program carved out for engineering students to smoothen their journey from campus to corporate. This is a 5 week program where Persistent System aims to equip students with the current practices on technology fronts so that they can acquire deeper knowledge along with its practical applications to make them eligible for pre-placement offers from Persistent Systems.

● A pre-qualifier online assessment was conducted for the registered students along with a program orientation. Students who qualified the test had to go through a rigorous 5 weeks Summer Internship cum training module in the field of Operating System, Computer Networks, DBMS, OOPs, Data Structures & Algorithm.

● A Martian Post Internship Online Assessment test was conducted for the students who successfully completed the training and cleared the assignments given during the training.

● After clearing the post internship test students were shortlisted for the Technical & HR Interviews.

4) Persistent Systems ‘Polaris’ Program

Polaris is a specialized training program on Salesforce. This is a 4-to-6-week program where Persistent System trains the students with the current practices on Salesforce technology. Various packages are offered to the successful candidates through this training by Persistent Systems.

Career Counselling Cell

The Career Counselling and Guidance Cell in Colleges has been formulated to address the diverse socio-economic challenges and geographic backgrounds of the heterogeneous population of students coming to the Colleges vis-à-vis equity of access and placement opportunities through availability of appropriate institutional support information. Linguistic differences and cultural gaps among students also call for the setting up of placement cells. Availability of relevant and accessible information coupled with professional guidance to utilize the same can result in better career achievements outside the classrooms and help in the healthy progression of students.

College is delivering relevant information on courses and combinations on offer with freedom of choice is generally available and counselling is informally given as a support service. The conventional information system comprises a copy of prospectus that contains a list of courses and combinations, entry rules, fee structure, examination schedule etc. in a routine repetitive manner year after year.

But now with the change in scenario, not only the academic content and its rules have become oriented towards the market needs but one has also to address social disparities and career opportunities that education has to offer. The conventional information system is now to be supplemented with active guidance and information technology that is fast replacing the print media with a system that can quickly retrieve information details for the benefit of all concerned. Now it is important to institutionalize this support to enhance the reach and scope of available opportunities for the students and prepare them for the future challenges.

To implement the above, Counselling Services are to be formalized which will enable the students to get over their social institutions and exclusivity, which are attributed to their socio-economic and cultural diversities and linguistic barriers. The career and counselling support that an institution offers to its students makes them confident to perform better. Counselling thus addresses both the academic and the career concerns and opportunities. The inculcation of guidance about market patterns and employability can help the institution in building a base for its students. This exercise will result in their socioeconomic integration.

Career Counselling and Guidance Cell would help the students with appropriate guidance to establish linkages with the world of work and locate career opportunities vis- à-vis the realities and job profiles in the context of highly competitive emerging occupational patterns. The gap in perception about the market demands and individual expectations could be bridged through psychological and confidence building measures.

Vocational guidance and campus based interviews have become a common practice. These could be taken care of through the active liaison of the Career and Counselling Cell with the recruiting agencies and HR personnel of reputed firms. The active participation of institutional experts from these could give greater on site experience in search of suitable candidates. In this exercise, the institutions, for positive help, could also involve their alumni. They could also undertake an affordable training programme to acquaint the students with the high demand market areas and invoke industry institution linkage.

Objective:

• Along with the academic and administrative processes in a College, Career and Counselling Cell has to be a dispensation of well-informed and interested teachers.
• It has to support the students in the development of soft skills and communication ability to challenge the rigors of competitive tests and on-job-training in add-on or vocational courses.
• As a purveyor of healthy inter and intra personal relations, it has to inculcate social values and ability to think independently for carrying out social responsibilities.
• There may be a team of teachers with different subjects and interests to create a homogeneous group to translate this vision and carry out its healthy functions as an institutional imperative.
• The guidance and counselling cell in a College has to be a resource centre of information, guidance and counselling with free accessibility and internet based global connectivity and exchange of information on professional placements.

Function of Career Counselling Cell:

• To gather information on job avenues and placements in different institutions and concerns related to the courses that the College offers.
• To analyse information in the local, regional and national contexts to explore its relevance and utility for the students in their placements and on-job training.
• To organise seminars and guidance workshops for informing students about the emerging professional trends and events, job profiles, leadership roles, entrepreneurship, market needs and risks and implementation of national socioeconomic policies and to impart training in soft skills. To promote discipline, healthy outlook and positive attitudes towards national integration and removal of narrow provincial preferences and prejudices
