EMPOWER-A Must Experience for Graduating Engineering Students

Over last three years, EMPOWER has turned out to be an only one of its kind flagship Mega event of Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering & Management. Every year the engineering students in this region eagerly look forward to participate in this wonderful event. A unique idea of bringing in latest technologies in the field of engineering for the third, final and M Tech students has been conceived by THE TEAM EMPOWER of Electrical Engineering department and implemented fruitfully for successive three years.

One of the fundamental reason for the enormous success of the EMPOWER theme is the clarity in the industry representatives that they are at this juncture to interact exclusively with the students for jam-packed two days. Students are also ensured that the companies have gathered exclusively to interact with them & them only.
In EMPOWER 2014, sixteen leading companies in the field Electrical Engineering represented by 54 working engineering professionals and their associates interacted with 312 students of third, final and post graduate level from over 15 engineering colleges in and around Nagpur and Vidarbha region. The participating companies included Finolex (Power cables), Hager (LV protective devices and automation), High Rise Transformers (Power and Distribution Transformers), Larsen & Toubro (Switchgear and Controlgear), TDK Epcos (Power Factor Capacitors and Harmonic Filters), Wipro Lighting (Lamps & Luminaire), Waree (Solar Technologies),
DV Associates (Instrumentation & Controls), Gentech (HVAC Compressors), Ojha Enterprises (Insulators, AB Switch/ Rotary isolators, LA), Powerica (DG Sets), Pioneer Controls (AC/DC Drives), Synergy (Underground cable fault detectors), VSP Aqua Mist (Specialized fire fighting equipments, Western Engineers (LT motor & power control centers, APFC Panels). The companies were represented by engineers not only from Nagpur but also from Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Delhi etc. The companies showcased and explained in details their latest product range and delivered technical lectures in small batches of 25-30 students every hour for two days. Some companies who could not send their representatives were very efficiently represented by our Final Year & Post Graduate students.
The event EMPOWER 2014 was inaugurated by Shri Rajiv Abhyankar, Sr. Vice President, Cethar Ltd. under Chairmanship of Shri Banwarilal Purohit in presence of Shri Govindlal Agrawal, Dr V. S. Deshpande, Dr R. S. Pande, Prof V. T. Barhate and Deans, Heads of the Departments and faculties of our institutes as well as many engineering colleges in this region. The visitors included Managements, Principals, Senior Professors & faculties, renowned consultants and working professionals in the region.
Safety of human beings and property is one of the essential prerequisites of any successful engineering career. Keeping this in mind, expert lecture and demonstration on First Aid and CSR was delivered by Dr Gunajan Badwaik from LM Hospital. A firefighting demo was given by Shri Vishwas Chakradeo of M/s VSP Aqua Mist for all the participants.
Over a period of three years, EMPOWER has been associated with over 30 leading manufacturing companies represented by over 100 industry experts who physically brought in their products on our campus and participated by 1000 students from Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics streams from Nagpur & Central India. Next year’s EMPOWER 2015 is slated to be a still bigger event encompassing more number of companies, engineering streams and institutions.

EMPOWER-2014 was conducted on 7th and 8th March 2014. TEAM EMPOWER consisting of Jayant Joshi, Niranjan Deshkar, Uday Mujumdar and Hemant Diddee was aptly assisted by Mrs Sangeeta Deshmukh, Mrs Preeti Kapoor, Mrs Sonali Rangari , Mrs Vijaya Hucchhe & Gaurav Goyal all from department of Electrical Engineering. The entire organization of the event is handled by our very enthusiastic Second Year Electrical students.
