Career Prospects

Mechanical Engineers are required in the core and software industries alike. They have a wide work in thermal power industry, gas turbines industry, air conditioning and refrigeration industry, oil and gas exploration and refining industries, agricultural sector, educational sector, aviation companies, shipping industries, aerospace industry, armed forces, pharmaceutical, automobile industry and many others. Big firms like Siemens, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd, Bharat Electronics Limited, Chennai Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. and many others hire these engineers. Mechanical Engineers work in the field of Research and Development, Design, Production, Thermal, Analysis, Testing, Installation and Maintenance etc.

Programme Educational Objectives (PEO’s) BE Mechanical Engineering

  • The graduates shall be capable to accept challenges in engineering industries.
  • The graduates shall demonstrate core competency to design, analyze and evaluate various engineering systems.
  • The graduates shall be able to apply computational and professional skills in the corporate world.

Programme Outcomes (PO’s) BE Mechanical Engineering

  1. Programme makes sure that students will apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals to the solution of Mechanical engineering problems.
  2. Programme ensures that students are capable to identify, formulate and analyze the problems in manufacturing and service industry.
  3. Students are capable to design and develop the system/components or process using Mechanical engineering tools to derive the solutions.
  4. Students are proficient to investigate complex problems by using statistical tools/simulation techniques etc. to draw conclusion.
  5. Programme ensures that students gain ability to exercise contemporary Mechanical engineering tools with information technology support.
  6. Programme ascertains to inculcate the skill set in students to behave and become acceptable as an important contributor to the society in general.
  7. Programme make certain that students recognize long term effects of solutions provided by Mechanical engineering tools and techniques on environment and sustainability of mankind.
  8. Students should understand the importance of ethical behavior and incorporate the same in their day to day working.
  9. Programme undertakes that students will work as an individual and lead the team effectively to achieve the set objectives.
  10. Programme composes that students are capable to effectively communicate with his peers, superiors and subordinates to enhance the productivities.
  11. Students are able to plan and execute engineering projects with cost consideration.
  12. Programme reassures that students are satisfactorily motivated to pursue a profession in Mechanical engineering.

M.Tech Programme Educational Objectives

  1. To prepare post graduates who will create new ways to meet society's needs with theirknowledge of Heat Power Engineering.
  2. To promote student's awareness of life-long learning and to introduce them to professional ethics and codes of professional practice.
  3. To provide students with advanced knowledge in the area of heat power engineering,by using analytical,computationaltechniques and prepare them for further research.

Program Outcomes

  1. An ability to identify, formulate and solve engineering problems applying knowledge of Heat Power Engineering.
  2. An ability to develop practice of technical communication and function in team.
  3. An ability to design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability.
  4. To develop self learning ability.

VORTECHX’16


VORTECHX’16- a National Level Technical Symposium was organized by the department in February 2016. The events organized under VORTECHX saw collective participation of about 1000 students, from various engineering and polytechnic colleges of central India.

RGSTC TIFAC Internship

Two students group of mechanical engineering department have successfully completed the two month internship project under the RGSTC-TIFAC scheme.

  1. Rohitraj Nair and Abhishek Jha(VII semester B.E) worked at Navratan Industries, MIDC Hingna Nagpur for the project titled “Design and Development of Climb Assist System for Wind Mill” und the guidance of Dr. V.V. Shukla.
  2. Prabhat Rajput and Rohan Dekate (VII semester B.E) worked at Rama Pins, MIDC Hingna Nagpur for the project titled “Design and Development of Hydraulic Machine for Restoring Bent Pin” under the guidance of Prof. P.B. Shiwalkar.
