Career Prospects

Industrial Engineers are hugely demanded in both India and abroad. The demand for Industrial Engineers is in fact ever increasing. Industrial Engineers are involved in Review production schedules, engineering specifications, process flows, and other information to understand methods that are applied and activities that take place in manufacturing and services, Figure out how to manufacture parts or products, or deliver services, with maximum efficiency, Develop management control systems to make financial planning and cost analysis more efficient, Enact quality control procedures to resolve production problems or minimize costs, Design control systems to coordinate activities and production planning in order to ensure that products meet quality standards, Confer with clients about product specifications, vendors about purchases, management personnel about manufacturing capabilities, and staff about the status of projects.
An Industrial Engineer can get jobs in almost all types of industries (manufacturing/service).An industrial engineer is a systems integrator – a big-picture thinker. It also covers a wide and varied range of industries from FMCG, IT & system, consultancy, banking & financial institutions to telecom. Industrial Engineers can take self Employment as their first choice. Qualities, techniques required for being an employer is nurtured in them since their inception in to the course module. Self employment opportunities are also available as consultants or specialists usually after suitable years of industrial experience. They can join private consultancy firms, R&D establishments of big companies. Industrial engineers have ample opportunities for pursuing their post graduation studies in and outside INDIA. (Technical and Management). Because of the broad-based nature of the course, industrial engineers can work with all types of engineering and manufacturing industries in the private and public sectors.

Program Educational Objectives

  • The students of Industrial Engineering shall be prepared to work in any Engineering Organization, pursue higher studies, or start their own entrepreneurial project.
  • Industrial Engineering Students shall have expertise to create integrated systems of Man-Machine Material for productivity improvement. Students shall have ability to provide financially viable systems.
  • The students shall have general understanding and competency of designing, evaluating and Interfacing systems of Information & Technology, Mechanical & Production Engineering.
  • Exposure to management courses shall inculcate into the students a sense of professionalism. Involvement of graduates with student bodies, shall help them shape their personalities, as it will hone their communication skills, build team spirit and generate social awareness.
  • The students will have desire to pursue higher studies and engage themselves in lifelong learning, in the context of technological changes.

Programme Objectives

Industrial engineering (IE) is concerned with development of expertise to design, improve and install integrated systems of man-machine-material. IE provides information and awareness to reduce wastage of time, money, materials, energy and other resources. It draws upon specialized knowledge and skill in the mathematical, physical and social sciences together with the principles and methods of engineering analysis and design to specify, predict, and evaluate the results to be obtained from such systems. The program is aimed at creating knowledge that advances the state-of-the-art technology in production processes using underlying principles of management, modelling/simulation and application of other tools for enhancing system efficiency.

Program Outcomes

  • Program ensures that students will thoroughly acquire the knowledge of Industrial Engineering with an ability to discriminate, evaluate, analyze and synthesize existing knowledge for the creation of new knowledge.
  • Program ensures that students are capable of analyzing the complex engineering problems and apply their independent judgment for synthesizing information for conducting research in a wider theoretical and practical perspective.
  • Students will be able to provide a feasible optimal solution for complex engineering problems considering public health, safety, culture, society and environment.
  • Student will be able to contribute individually and in group to the development of scientific knowledge by using appropriate research methodology
  • Students will be able to learn and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools, including simulation and modeling, to complex engineering activities.

Guest Lecture on Entreprenuership Development:-


A guest Lecture was organized by Oasis -Entrepreneurship Cell (industrial) on 7th October 2015 for the second year students of Industrial Engineering Department. Guest of the session was Dr. A.R.Bapat, Ex-Prof. In charge of Workshop in RCOEM for 16 yrs. He also served as Principal in KDK College OF Engineering for 2 yrs. The session named “To Achieve Your Dreams, Remember A to Z Life’s Instructions” started with the welcome speech of Prof. M.R. Jain, Chief Coordinator of Ed Cell. Dr. Bapat influenced students with motivating thoughts and by sharing skills to live a happy, healthy life. Mr. Bapat talked about avoiding negativity, to be brave and to stop procrastinating. He emphasized how efforts can be accelerated by zeroing in the targets and going for it. He discussed about entrepreneurial approach towards earning money. The students found the session to be highly informative and useful. The programme came to end with the vote of thanks proposed by Prof. Y.V. Deshpande (Industriual Engg. Dept).

Awarded in M Tech, Development of Cutting Tool Condition Monitoring System using Virtual Instrumentation, Thesis at Indian Institute of Information technology, Design & Manufacturing, Jabalpur, 2012. 4. Qualified GATE 2010 Exam in Mechanical Discipline with GATE Score 528 and All India Ranking 1901. 5. Deported for 9 months Extensive Training in Qingdao New Century Tool Corporation, Qingdao, China and YG1 Co. Ltd., Incheon, South Korea, on CNC Lathe, Centerless, Cylindrical, and Thread Grinding as well as process planning and engineering in 2008 from YG1 Industries India PVT. LTD.

Awards : Awarded for Best Paper titled “ Multi-sensor Tool Condition Monitoring in End Milling of Ti-6Al-4V” at Association of Machines & Mechanisms, XII IPRoMM, National Workshop on Industrial Problems on Machines & Mechanisms: “Challenges in Manufacturing”, 2016, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, Nagpur.

  • Prof. Sachin Pund attended one week STTP on “ Advanced Engineering Optimization through Intelligent Techniques (AEOTIT) held by Department of Mechanical Engineering at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Institute of Technology Surat, Gujrat on 21-25th March 2015.
  • Prof.S. M. Randiwe received a best paper award at the Indian Foundry Congress 2016 held at IIF Coimbatore on 23-31 January. The same paper was published in Indian Foundry Journal in march volume. The title of the paper was “ Experimental Investigation of Computer Aided Titanium casting for customized implant manufacturing.
